Are parking and tolls tax deductible?
Yes, for business trips, and on top of the standard mileage rate. Parking at your regular workplace and any tickets or fines are not.
The rule
Parking fees and tolls on a business trip are one of the few car costs the mileage rate doesn’t include, so they are deducted separately whichever method you use.
Parking where you work every day is part of a commute. That includes a monthly spot at an office you rent.
A $28 garage for a client meeting is deductible in full.
Priced at 36¢ on the dollar, the rate of a $95,000 sole proprietor in California. Work out yours.
