Your gifts finally count.

From 2026, cash gifts to charity come off your taxes even if you take the standard deduction: up to $1,000, or $2,000 filing jointly. Reimburse keeps every gift with the charity’s receipt and shows what each one puts back.

Free. No bank login. Export every gift whenever you want it.

Forward the thank-you, and it’s kept

Your gifts get their own email address. Forward the charity’s thank-you email, or photograph the paper one, and Reimburse reads who you gave to, how much and when, and whether anything came back for it.

Every gift then shows its share of what your year of giving puts back, at your own tax rate. A gift of $250 or more without the charity’s receipt says so, while there’s still time to ask.

What counts, and what doesn’t

A gift counts when it goes to a charity the IRS recognizes, and only the part you didn’t get back. Without itemizing, only cash counts, up to the new limit. If you itemize, everything counts above 0.5% of your income. Is my gift tax deductible?

Counts

Cash or card to a church, school, hospital or food bank
Up to $1,000 without itemizing
The same, filing jointly
Up to $2,000
Stock you held over a year
Its value, if you itemize
Clothes and household goods in good condition
What they’d sell for used, if you itemize
Money put into a donor-advised fund
If you itemize
Miles driven for a charity
14¢ a mile, if you itemize

Doesn’t

A gift to a person, or a crowdfunding page for one
Not a charity
A political campaign or party
Never deductible
Raffle, bingo or lottery tickets
Never deductible
Your time
Only what you spent
The dinner or tote that came with it
Comes off
A grant out of your donor-advised fund
Counted when it went in

The paper the IRS asks for

A gift without the right paper is worth nothing in an audit, and the charity’s acknowledgment has to be in hand before you file. Reimburse asks for it on the gift itself, while you can still get it.

Any cash gift
A bank or card record, or something in writing from the charity.
One gift of $250 or more
A written acknowledgment from the charity, in hand before you file, saying whether you got anything back.
Got something worth over $75 back
The charity’s statement of what it was worth.
Goods or stock over $500
Form 8283, Section A.
Goods over $5,000
A qualified appraisal and Form 8283, Section B.

The shoebox of thank-you letters, that knows what counts.

Its own address

Forward a charity’s email, or have them send it there. Each one is read and kept with the gift.

Questions

The rules are from IRS Publication 526, Charitable Contributions, and Topic 506.

Every question about giving, answered

Do I need to itemize?

Not from 2026, for cash: up to $1,000 of cash gifts, or $2,000 filing jointly, comes off even with the standard deduction. Stock, goods and money put into a donor-advised fund still count only if you itemize. Giving without itemizing

What if I do itemize?

Then every gift counts, less the first 0.5% of your income, and in the top bracket a dollar given saves at most 35 cents. Tell Reimburse once and it prices every gift that way. The 0.5% floor

Does a donor-advised fund count?

Money you put into the fund counts the year you put it in, if you itemize; it never counts toward the $1,000. Grants the fund later makes don’t count again. Donor-advised funds

What about state taxes?

Reimburse shows the federal tax back. Some states give their own deduction or credit for gifts; that isn’t counted yet.

Can the charity email it straight there?

Yes. Give them the address. Anything that can’t be read waits for you to say what it was.

What does it cost?

Nothing. No trial and no card.
