Is it HSA eligible?

Are hearing aids HSA eligible?

Yes. A hearing aid counts, and so do its batteries, repairs and the upkeep it needs to work.

The rule

The IRS lists the cost of a hearing aid and the batteries, repairs and maintenance needed to operate it.

Special telephone equipment that lets someone who is deaf or hard of hearing use a phone counts too, with its repairs.

Paid yourself, it waits in the HSA until you take the money out, this year or decades from now.

Watch for
Anything insurance paid, or paid you back for, can’t also come out of the HSA. Only what you paid yourself counts.

Keep the receipt. Take the money out later.
