Is a chiropractor HSA eligible?
Yes. What you pay a chiropractor for medical care can be paid from an HSA.
The rule
The IRS lists fees paid to a chiropractor for medical care as a medical expense, the same as an osteopath’s.
Other services at the same office are judged on their own. A massage there counts only if it treats a specific condition.
Paid yourself, it waits in the HSA until you take the money out, this year or decades from now.

- What to keep
- The chiropractor’s receipts with dates and what each visit was.
- Watch for
- Anything insurance paid, or paid you back for, can’t also come out of the HSA. Only what you paid yourself counts.
